The Government provides funding called the PE and Sport Premium to primary schools in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport. All state-maintained schools, academies, middle schools, special schools and pupil referral units which have primary aged pupils receive the funding.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision for PE and sport in schools. We are held accountable for how we use the additional funding to support pupil progress and participation in PE and school sport. We are required to publish on-line information about how we have used the additional funding, including details about our sporting provision alongside curriculum details.

Allocation:

All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil.

For the academic year 2024 to 2025, we received £16,720  and the reports below explain how we have spent it.  Below is a statement detailing the impact this funding has had on the delivery of our PE curriculum.

The PE and sport premium funding has had a strong and sustained impact on the school, improving both the quality and inclusivity of physical education. The funding has been fully utilised to enhance PE provision and pupil engagement, with a focus on developing staff confidence, knowledge, and skill in delivering high-quality PE lessons. Specialist coaching and targeted professional development have ensured that PE is inclusive and engaging for all pupils, including those with SEND, girls, and disadvantaged pupils. Focused initiatives such as tailored activities for girls, additional support for pupils with special educational needs, and a variety of extra-curricular opportunities have encouraged wider participation and more positive attitudes towards sport and physical activity.

The impact of this funding is clearly demonstrated through rising levels of participation, enjoyment, and attainment. Pupils are now more involved in extra-curricular clubs, school competitions, and active travel programmes, fostering teamwork, confidence, and resilience.  These improved opportunities are sustainable, supported by ongoing staff training, enhanced resources, and strong community partnerships. The funding has successfully embedded a culture of physical activity across the school, ensuring that pupils enjoy sport, stay healthy, and develop lifelong positive habits.
