Our School Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for our school and all who pass through,
Thank you for friendship, old and new,
Help us to learn and grow on our journey through life.
Amen
As a Church of England school our daily act of Collective Worship is a special time that brings together members of the school community.
At the beginning of an act of Worship, we light a candle and one of the children opens the worship as we make reference to the holy trinity.
Worship is led by teachers, children and visitors.
Groups of children are encouraged to prepare and lead worship based on one of our themes. These opportunities allow them to gain valuable leadership experience and extend their ability to think and reflect on a wide range of global issues.
Our worship is further enhanced by visits from local priests, including Reverend Mark Poskitt, from Chapel Haddlesey Church. The children are further challenged to think, ask questions and share their views about the world around them.
The ‘Open the Book’ team from St Wilfrid’s at Brayton visit our school on a monthly basis and join the children for Collective Worship. They bring to life bible stories, and are helped by the children either as members of the cast and/or with audience participation. The children are always enthusiastic. Each story has its own message.
Our Class 3 children said:- The Open The Book group have so far been to our school twice. The first time they came in two of the worship group helped them act out the story of The Boy in The Temple. The second time they came, a group of six pupils and a teacher acted out the story of The Baptism of Jesus. I quite like it when they come in because the plays are very interactive and it makes everyone smile. It is really good for the Class 1 children because the plays make it easier to picture the story.
The Collective Worship Policy was prepared in consultation with staff working across the federation and put together by our Federation RE Lead and Rev. Anna Burr, our Foundation Governor.
