Chapel Haddlesey Doorstep Green is a shared community area in Chapel Haddlesey for recreational use by adults and children of our villages.

The funding came from the Countryside Agency (50%), now known as Natural England, and the remainder was from the Landfill Tax and a small amount was raised by the Doorstep Green committee. The Parish Council share the running costs of the site with the Doorstep Green committee and this is usually around £1400 per year.
Fundraising events have included a Winter Ball at Darrington, a Northern Soul night in Chapel Haddlesey Community Hall and a Halloween party. Events are held on Doorstep Green each year including a Party in the Park in the summer and Christmas Carols around the tree.
The children of the school often walk down to the area to enjoy some fresh air and explore the wildlife. There is a pond, picnic tables, a climbing wall and willow tunnels for all to enjoy.
The Doorstep Green committee have recently purchased a marquee which is available for hire for private functions. Please contact school on 01757 270282 to receive contact details of the committee members.
Over the past few years, our children have continued their studies at secondary level at Carlton Holy Family School, Snaith High School or Brayton Academy. Parents are informed about high school open evenings for prospective families in the Autumn Term. Before making the transition, the Year 7 coordinator visits the school to chat to the children about transition and share key information with them. In July pupils have the opportunity to spend an induction day to meet other local pupils who will be making the transition with them.

Chapel Haddlesey School is a Church of England School and we have been in Haddlesey since 1875, providing education for every child in the area. There has always been a close association between our school and the local Parish Church of St John the Baptist.
St John the Baptist Church serves West Haddlesey, Chapel Haddlesey, Temple Hirst, Hirst Courtney and West Bank and services are held every Sunday at 11.00am.
If you live in one of these communities and would like to have your baby or child baptised/christened or if you would like to get married, this is your Parish Church. Please contact Reverend Mark Postkitt on 01757 247768
Former local Reverend Anna Burr is a Foundation Governor of our federation and also at Hambleton School. She lived in Chapel Haddlesey from 2011 to 2024 and enjoys being involved in school, supporting the children and staff. Both of her parents were teachers and she has two adult children, both of whom were educated in state schools and her husband is involved in University Education.
We are fortunate to have the use of a hall, adjacent to the school, for indoor PE and school events. The hall is managed by the Chapel Haddlesey Parochial Church Council and was built in 2006, thanks to local fundraising and a grant from NYCC.
The hall is available for bookings for classes, events and parties by contacting Val Brunyard on 01757 228171.

We have been very fortunate to receive funding from various pots to enable our Community Garden within the school grounds to take off. Thanks to Tesco Bags of Hope, Groundworks and NYCC Police Community Fund for supporting our project and to Mrs Hall, Kevin Hall, Alan Smith and Groundworks staff for preparing the land and installing our planters, pathways and potting shed.
